2012 Lake Capote Season
Lake
Capote will be open to the general public for the 2012 season. The Lake
will begin the operating season with a shortened weekly schedule, every Thursday through Sunday,
beginning Thursday April 12th. The full time schedule (7-days/week)
will begin on May 10th and extend through September 6th. The Lake will then return to a limited fall schedule (Thursday
through Sunday) through closing on October 7th. A possible winter
operating schedule is being considered, but presently is undetermined.
The Lake is open to fishing, boating, day-use, and overnight camping (tent sites and RV hookups). Visitors are welcome at any time. Lake staff are typically on duty for check-ins between 8:00AM and 5:00PM, however, a self check-in station is available for visitors arriving after hours.
General Rules and Regulations
All visitors must check in at the bait shop or self check-in station and pay necessary fees upon entering the lake area. None of the following will be allowed at the Lake:
Off-leash pets Discharging of firearms
Alcohol Hunting within the lake and campground areas
Littering Cleaning fish in the lake
Swimming Open-ground fires outside of established fire pits
Off-road travel Entering restricted areas
Fishing Permits
Daily fishing permits, specific to Lake Capote, will be issued on site and are limited to 1 per person. The permit is valid for 1 full day, or until the permittee has reached the daily bag limit, whichever comes first. Also, a Derby Fishing Permit will be available and is required to be eligible to receive cash prizes during a season-long fishing derby being held at the Lake. The following fee schedule applies to permits available at Lake Capote. All visitors are required to obtain the appropriate permit(s), depending on the activities engaged in.

Fishing and Boating Regulations
Daily Bag Limit: (3) trout per person may be kept, all trout 16" or greater must be released
(1) channel catfish may be kept
Note: All largemouth bass are catch-and-release only
Fshing Tackle: Flies, lures, or bait, but no fish or amphibian baits allowed
Only 1 fishing pole per person will be allowed.
Fishing will be allowed from sunrise to sunset from shore, boat, or float-tube.
Fishermen are encouraged to report their catch results to the onsite manager upon departure.
Boating will be allowed using human or electric-propelled vessels only. No gas-powered motors!
