Validation is mandatory for all early Archery kills

Validation is mandatory in order to pick up 2nd and 3rd doe/cow permits

 

Unfilled archery permits may be used during the general season.

Voluntary validation  of all kills during general season is strongly encouraged to aid management.

Permit must be obtained from Southern Ute Division of Wildlife office and a Federal duck stamp must be attached.  Waterfowl bag limits coincide with Federal regulations for the Pacific flyway.  See the SUIT Wildlife Division for specific daily bag limits by waterfowl species.

2010 January Cow Elk Hunt

1  All tribal member hunting permits issued free of charge by the Southern Ute Division of Wildlife Resource Management

2  The phone number to call for arranging animal inspection and validation during regular business hours is (970) 563-0130 and during non-business hours is (970) 563-4401 (Southern Ute Dispatch). 

3  Tribal Members may not pick up multiple cow and doe tags at one time.  To receive a second or third tag, the hunter must first present his/her previously harvested animal for validation by DWRM staff.

4  The annual January Cow Elk Hunt is administered through an application and drawing process, with preference extended to all Ute Indians.  Applications must be received at the DWRM office by the stated deadline.  Drawings and notifications are conducted in November.  Although this is considered a "non-member" hunt, Southern Ute Tribal Members may also participate in this hunt with permitting preference and no fees.
