Tribal Members may not pick up multiple cow and doe tags at one time. To receive a second or third tag, the hunter must first present his/her previously harvested animal for validation by DWRM staff.
The annual January Cow Elk Hunt is administered through an application and drawing process, with preference extended to all Ute Indians. Applications must be received at the DWRM office by the stated deadline. Drawings and notifications are conducted in November. Although this is considered a "non-member" hunt, Southern Ute Tribal Members may also participate in this hunt with permitting preference and no fees.
